The Village
In a dominant position over one of the most beautiful valleys in Tuscany, the village of Mazzolla dates back to the 11th century. Originally an agricultural center without defensive structures, it took on the appearance of a fortified castle in the 13th century.
Today the village presents itself as an enchanting hill overlooking the Berignone-Tatti forest. Its historic heart houses the Romanesque Pieve di San Lorenzo and the medieval Villa Viti, still home to the family of the same name today.
Between the characteristic stone houses and the steep access road, Mazzolla remains an intact example of harmony between medieval architecture and the Tuscan landscape.

Berignone
The Nature Reserve:
