Practical Information
Mazzolla is located about 8 km south-east of Volterra (PI). As it is a rural village, the best way to get there is by car, as public transport only goes as far as Volterra or Saline di Volterra.
How to find us
From Florence (approx. 1 hour 15 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes by car)
- By car: Take the SGC Florence-Pisa-Livorno (FI-PI-LI) motorway towards Livorno, and exit at Ginestra Fiorentina and follow the signs for Montespertoli/Castelfiorentino/Volterra. Continue towards Volterra and, once you arrive, follow the local signs for Mazzolla.
- Public transport: Train from Florence SMN to Certaldo or Poggibonsi, then take a local bus (Autolinee Toscane) to Volterra. From Volterra, the best option is a taxi or a hire car for the remaining 8 km.
From Pisa (about 1 hour 15 minutes by car)
- By car: Take the FI-PI-LI motorway towards Florence, and exit at Pontedera and follow the signs for Volterra. Pass through Ponsacco/La Sterza and follow the signs for Volterra, then Mazzolla.
- Public transport: Train from Pisa Centrale to Pontedera-Casciana Terme, then take the bus to Volterra. From Volterra, you’ll need to take a taxi to reach Mazzolla.
From Rome (approx. 3½–4 hours by car)
- By car: Take the A1 motorway towards Florence, exit at Valdichiana. Continue towards Siena and then take the Siena-Florence motorway until the exit Colle Val d’Elsa Nord. Follow the signs for Volterra and then for Mazzolla.
- Public transport: Train to Florence or Siena, then bus to Colle Val d’Elsa or Volt
